While coloring pages may seem simple in the minds of parents and other adults these days, they are often the passport into a more creative style of play. Yes, your child will simply color the picture online, but by doing so, she is learning not only to stay inside the lines, but to balance color and texture and to simply use her imagination. If a coloring page for kids is the first step into a full-fledged imagination based entertainment package, it is unlikely many parents will find them simple for long.
Coloring books generally have a theme of sorts. It might be that they are based on a Disney movie, or it is about animals, or vehicles, or something else. When selecting books for your children, remember that they will want to express their creativity, and will have a lot of fun with any coloring book, but will be more interested in a coloring booklet with a theme that appeals to them. Choose a color book that features their favorite characters, or the item of interest in their life. For example, if your little boy just loves trains, get a Thomas the Train coloring book. If your little girl is as girly as they come, look for the Disney Princess coloring book, or possibly Strawberry Shortcake.
Determine your childs level when it comes to coloring. Some color books provide large coloring spaces making it easier for children to color the page, stay in the lines, etc. As the child gets older, their skill level for coloring increases as well, and the difficulty of the book may as well. Some coloring books come with written instructions, and other games, such as a dot to dot, or a maze. If you want to keep your child happy, and still challenge them, choose coloring or activity books in their range or level, and do not frustrate them with books that have too small of pictures, or too many spaces to color, or written instructions.
Coloring in is one of the main starting points of creativity in children. Being able to expressed ones self with a piece of paper and colored pencils or crayons is a great thing to be able to do and remember, it leads onto being able to learn other brand new skills. Quick tip! If your child has difficulty holding a colored pencil then try them with crayons first. Crayons are easier to hold because they are larger and softer. But as your childs skills and abilities progress they will prefer the greater accuracy of using colored pencils.

I was picking out some coloring books for my friends children when she informed me that she would like to get a couple of books too. This is a 30 something year old woman. She then began picking out colored pencils as well with a gleam in her eye like a kid in a candy store. She couldnt wait to get home and start coloring in her new books. She picked Barbie Doll, princess type books and methodically chose what colors she would use for the first picture.
The themes of adult coloring books are usually intricate and centered more around adult images, not your childhood counterparts that included bunnies, super heroes, and farm animals. You would expect to see geometric patterns, psychedelic patterns reminiscent of doodle art type pages, fantasy images including angels, dragons, goddesses and mermaids, and ancient designs of religious and spiritual nature.
If you really want to get right down to it, adults love to color as much are their kids do. If you dont believe us, think about all of the artists that do oil and watercolor paintings, those that do pen and ink drawings and watercolor pencil drawings and artwork. This is simply the more appropriate and acceptable way for adults to continue coloring as we all did as kids. This is partially why both adults and children alike really enjoy having SpongeBob printable coloring pages available to them to color on.
Coloring is a great way to bond. Ask your friends over for some wine, cheese and coloring. Perhaps at first they might look at you with skeptical eyes and doubt; but hand over a fresh sheet of paper, some vibrant or glitter colored pens and in just minutes you will not be able to pry those colors out of their fingers. Soon you will be visiting easily, looking over at each-others masterpieces from time to time to admire their selection of colors. You will begin to feel like you have time-traveled back into grade 2 and you do not really want to leave. Coloring is freeing and has no expectations. The beautiful thing about this craft is that there is no pressure to finish, to use a certain color or even to stay in the lines!!! There is absolute freedom involved in those precious hours where you just get to color.

Thus, you will witness that there are massive advantages of coloring-page relatively to coloring books. Coloring sheet are economical, costing you only a couple of cents in ink and paper rather than a few dollars for a coloring book.
